Twenty-nine year old recluse Anne Johnson never considered herself to be the superstitious type, so she didn’t think much about buying a Spotsylvania house with a Civil War battlefield in the backyard. The cheaper real estate was enticing and rural Virginia seemed like a decent place to hide away from the world and all its pressures, even if it meant encountering the odd Confederate ghost now and then. But after spending a summer hearing ghost stories about the battlefield–and seeing strange figures on its grounds after dark–she starts to wonder if the legends were more than just myths designed to scare the tourists.
